Hello there! I'm Ms. Dalby. Here's a short bio so maybe you can understand a little bit about me and what brought me to Marsh.
Background: I grew up in Chester where I attended Chester Jr/Sr High School. Yes, the 7th graders attend school with seniors! I played all kinds of sports including volleyball, basketball, softball, and cheer. After I graduated I went to UC Davis, where I earned my BS in Animal Biotechnology. After a bit of consideration for what I wanted out of life, I decided to become an educator and started the teaching credential program at CSU, Chico.
During my year of student teaching, I got a job as an intern back in Chester and worked with all my old teachers. At Chester, I taught both junior high classes and high school classes. I taught LOTS of subjects: biology, physics, physical science, Earth science, aquaculture (with a state-of-the-art fish hatchery!), and AP Environmental Science at the high school level, and in middle school taught life science and natural resources. I also coached a year of 8th grade girls basketball and spent the last 2 years coaching our JV and Varsity cheer teams. I also served on many teams and committees to help ensure a better future for the students of Plumas County.
After completing my 4th year at Chester, I decided it was time for me to graduate from my old high school (again) and move on to bigger and better things. I am very happy to be in my 4th year as a Gator, and in a NEW updated state-of-the-art classroom! I enjoy sharing my love for learning science with all the students of MJHS :-)
In my spare time (hahaha) I like to camp, hike, backpack, travel, read, play sports, ride my bike (both mt. bike and dirt bike), and spend time with family and friends. I also have a favorite little wiener dog that is my BFF named Piper I can thank the Chester class of 2012 for naming Piper, such fun and clever students! She goes with me everywhere she's allowed to go! Piper is 6 years old now and last year got BIG little brother great dane Lew who likes to torture her. Lew is now 2 years old and over 150 pounds!
I hope to learn a lot more about you as the year goes on, don't forget to put any activities (games, performances, etc) that you would like me to attend on the calendar in class and I will try my hardest to make it out and see what you love outside the science classroom, too! Thanks in advance for a great year :-)
